Flexibility with very good impact toughness and thermal insulation
Spectrum S-Flex 85A is a filament based on thermoplastic polyether polyurethane. In the field of additive manufacturing, S-Flex 85A stands out as a material with a relatively easy and trouble-free 3D printing process. Another advantage that allows obtaining a perfect print is the very good adhesion of the first layer of the printed part to the build surface, regardless of whether it is made of glass, steel, plastic, or other materials. Low processing shrinkage and high flexibility significantly reduce the risk of so-called edge warping of printed parts. The designation 85A in the filament name relates to the material hardness on the Shore scale, placing Spectrum S-Flex 85A in the category of hard elastomers. This property, from the 3D printing process perspective, reduces the risk of filament deformation in the feeding system leading material to the print head. This allows slightly faster printing compared to other, more demanding elastomers.
Parts made from Spectrum S-Flex 85A exhibit very high resistance to hydrolysis (a type of degradation caused by the presence of water), good recyclability, and very good resistance to dynamic forces. Thanks to these properties, it is possible to print 3D parts that protect surfaces exposed to impact (bumpers, edge protectors), sealing and protective elements with high chemical resistance, and also thermal insulators.
Key properties: high resistance to hydrolysis, up to 650% elongation at break, Shore-A hardness 85, high resistance to tearing and tensile forces, low shrinkage, resistance to many common industrial oils and chemicals, reduced number of chains during printer idle time.
Applications: manufacturing seals with high chemical resistance, production of objects used as energy absorbers, functional parts, all kinds of bumpers and vibration dampers, protective cases, snap-fit parts, sleeves, hinges, bumpers and flexible spacers, sealing parts with increased stiffness, spring damping elements for use in mechanical production and modeling, flexible belts with high strength, covers and cases for various devices.
Filament specifications: filament diameter: 1.75mm/2.85mm, extrusion temperature: 200-230"C, bed temperature: 50-70"C, print speed: 20-70mm/s.
