Flexibility with very good impact toughness and thermal insulation Spectrum S-Flex 85A is a filament based on thermoplastic polyether polyurethane. In the field of additive manufacturing, S-Flex 85A is a material characterized by a relatively easy and trouble-free 3D printing process. Another advantage that enables a perfect print is the very good adhesion of the first layer of the printed part to the build surface, regardless of whether it is made of glass, steel, plastic, or another material. Low processing shrinkage and high flexibility significantly reduce the risk of so-called edge warping of manufactured parts. The distinguishing number 85A in the filament name refers to the material hardness on the Shore scale and places Spectrum S-Flex 85A in the category of hard elastomers. This property, from the 3D printing process perspective, reduces the risk of filament deformation in the feeding system leading the material to the print head. This allows slightly faster printing compared to other more compliant elastomers.
Parts made from Spectrum S-Flex 85A feature very high resistance to hydrolysis (a type of degradation caused by the presence of water), good recyclability, and very good resistance to dynamic forces. Thanks to these properties, it is possible to print 3D parts that protect surfaces exposed to impact (bumpers, edge protectors), sealing and protective elements with high chemical resistance, and also thermal insulators.
