Flexibility with Excellent Impact Toughness and Thermal Insulation
Spectrum S-Flex 85A is a filament based on thermoplastic polyether polyurethane. In the field of additive manufacturing, S-Flex 85A is a material characterized by a relatively easy and trouble-free 3D printing process. Another advantage that enables a perfect print is the excellent adhesion of the first layer of the printed part to the working surface, regardless of whether it is made of glass, steel, plastic, or other materials. Low processing shrinkage and high flexibility significantly reduce the risk of edge warping of printed parts. The "85A" marking in the filament name refers to the material’s Shore hardness and places Spectrum S-Flex 85A in the category of hard elastomers. This property reduces the risk of filament deformation in the feeding system leading to the print head during the 3D printing process. It also allows for slightly faster printing compared to other, softer elastomers.
Parts made from Spectrum S-Flex 85A are characterized by very high resistance to hydrolysis (a type of degradation caused by the presence of water), good recyclability, and excellent resistance to dynamic forces. Thanks to these properties, it is possible to print 3D parts that protect surfaces exposed to impact (bumpers, edge protectors), sealing and protective components with high chemical resistance, and also thermal insulators.
Key features: High resistance to hydrolysis, up to 650% elongation at break, Shore A hardness of 85, high tear and tensile strength, low shrinkage, resistance to many common industrial oils and chemicals, reduced stringing when the printer is idle.
Applications: Manufacturing seals with high chemical resistance, production of objects used as energy absorbers, functional parts, all types of bumpers and vibration dampers, protective housings, snap-fit parts, sleeves, hinges, bumpers and flexible spacers, sealing parts with increased stiffness, spring damping elements for use in mechanical production and modeling, flexible high-strength belts, covers and housings for various devices.
Filament specifications: Filament diameter: 1.75 mm / 2.85 mm, extrusion temperature: 200–230"C, bed temperature: 50–70"C, printing speed: 20–70 mm/s.
