Improved heat resistance and high impact toughness
PLA Pro filament is a material based on modified PLA. By adjusting the chemical composition of the material to achieve satisfactory properties required for additive manufactured items, the advantages of PLA and ABS have been successfully combined. It is therefore possible to achieve high impact resistance of printed parts with high tensile strength and significant stiffness, which is typical for PLA-based materials. The modified chemical composition has improved the flowability of the material, making the filament suitable for industrial use that requires good mechanical strength properties, high printing efficiency, and especially the ability to increase printing speed.
Annealing
This is a process in which the temperature is increased to improve the strength, heat resistance, and ductility of the product. The temperature the model must reach is called the glass transition temperature. PLA Pro filament can be treated at a high temperature using a heated chamber. After crystallization, it exhibits increased thermal resistance (up to 85"C) and nearly twice the resistance of standard ABS. Annealing can be used for parts with simple shapes where increased mechanical resistance and higher tensile strength are needed.*
Uneven heating may lead to unexpected deformation and suboptimal performance of printed parts. The usual annealing time for parts with a wall thickness of about 3.2 mm is on average 20 minutes.
Key Features:
- good alternative to styrene-based materials
- extremely high impact resistance compared to classic PLA materials, 50% higher impact resistance than ABS
- high durability comparable to ABS
- increased process capacity due to the ability to increase printing speed (as a result of improved flowability)
- better layer adhesion allowing smoother side surfaces
Applications:
- functional prototyping
- tooling
- conceptual and demo prototypes of designed products and semi-finished goods
- industrial design
- parts requiring high impact strength
