Improved Thermal Resistance and High Impact Toughness PLA Pro filament is a material based on modified PLA. By orienting the chemical composition to achieve satisfactory properties required for additive manufactured objects, the advantages of PLA and ABS have been successfully combined. It is thus possible to achieve high impact resistance of printed parts with high tensile strength and substantial stiffness, which is typical for PLA-based materials. The modified chemical composition improved material fluidity, making the filament suitable for industrial use requiring good mechanical strength properties, high printing efficiency, and especially the ability to increase printing speed.
Annealing is a process where the temperature is increased to improve the strength, thermal resistance, and ductility of the product. The temperature the model must reach is called the glass transition temperature. PLA Pro filament can be treated at high temperatures using a heating chamber. After crystallization, it exhibits increased thermal resistance (up to 85"C) and nearly twice the resistance of standard ABS. Annealing can be used for parts with simple shapes where we need to increase mechanical resistance and tensile strength.* Uneven heating may cause unexpected deformation and suboptimal performance of printed parts. The usual annealing time for parts with approximately 3.2 mm wall thickness is about 20 minutes on average.
Key Features:
- Good alternative to styrene-based materials
- Extremely high impact resistance compared to classic PLA-based materials, 50% higher impact resistance than ABS
- High durability comparable to ABS
- Increased process capacity due to the possibility of higher print speeds (as a result of improved fluidity)
- Better layer adhesion allowing smoother side surfaces
