Improved Thermal Resistance and High Impact Toughness
PLA Pro filament is a material based on modified PLA. By orienting the chemical composition to achieve desirable properties for additively manufactured parts, the advantages of PLA and ABS have been successfully combined. As a result, it is possible to obtain high impact resistance of printed items while maintaining high tensile strength and considerable rigidity typical of PLA-based materials. The modified chemical composition has improved the material´s flowability, making it suitable for industrial use requiring good mechanical strength, high printing efficiency, and, most importantly, the ability to increase print speed.
Annealing
This is a process where the temperature is raised to improve the product´s strength, heat resistance, and elongation. The temperature that the model must reach is called the glass transition temperature. PLA Pro filament can be treated at high temperature in a heating chamber. Once crystallized, it shows increased thermal resistance (up to 85 "C) and nearly double the strength compared to standard ABS. Annealing can be used for simple-shaped parts where improved mechanical resistance and tensile strength are desired. *Uneven heating can lead to unexpected deformation and suboptimal performance of printed parts. The typical annealing time for parts with a wall thickness of approx. 3.2 mm is around 20 minutes.
