Enhanced Thermal Resistance and High Impact Toughness
PLA Pro filament is a material based on modified PLA. By orienting the chemical composition of the material to achieve satisfactory properties required for additive manufacturing objects, the advantages of PLA and ABS have been successfully combined. It is therefore possible to achieve high impact resistance of printed items with high tensile strength and substantial stiffness, which are typical for PLA-based materials. The modified chemical composition improves the material’s fluidity, making the filament suitable for industrial use that requires good mechanical strength properties, high printing efficiency, and especially the ability to increase printing speed.
Annealing
This is a process during which the temperature is increased, thereby improving the strength, thermal resistance, and ductility of the product. The temperature that the model must reach is called the glass transition temperature. PLA Pro filament can be annealed at a high temperature using a heated chamber. Once crystallized, it exhibits increased thermal resistance (up to 85"C) and nearly twice the resistance of standard ABS. Annealing can be used for parts with simple shapes where increased mechanical resistance and higher tensile strength are required.
* Uneven heating can lead to unexpected deformation and suboptimal performance of printed parts. The typical annealing time for parts with a wall thickness of about 3.2 mm is approximately 20 minutes.
Key Features:
- A good alternative to styrene-based materials
- Extremely high impact resistance compared to classic PLA-based materials, impact resistance 50% higher than ABS
- High durability comparable to ABS
- Higher process capacity thanks to the ability to increase printing speed (as a result of improved fluidity)
- Better interlayer adhesion allowing smoother side surfaces
