Improved heat resistance and high impact toughness
PLA Pro filament is a material based on modified PLA. By adjusting its chemical composition to meet the desired properties for additively manufactured parts, the benefits of PLA and ABS have been successfully combined. It is thus possible to achieve high impact resistance of printed items, along with high tensile strength and significant rigidity — characteristics typical for PLA-based materials. The modified chemistry also improved flowability, making the filament suitable for industrial use where good mechanical performance, high printing efficiency, and increased print speed are required.
Annealing
Annealing is a process in which the temperature is raised to enhance the strength, thermal resistance, and ductility of the product. The temperature that the model must reach is called the glass transition temperature. PLA Pro filament can be treated at high temperature in a heating chamber. Once crystallized, it features increased heat resistance (up to 85 "C) and nearly twice the strength of standard ABS. Annealing is ideal for parts with simple shapes where improved mechanical strength and tensile force are needed.
* Uneven heating may result in unexpected deformation and suboptimal performance of printed parts. The average annealing time for parts with a wall thickness of approx. 3.2 mm is around 20 minutes.
