Enhanced Thermal Resistance and High Impact Toughness
PLA Pro filament is a material based on modified PLA. By adjusting its chemical composition to achieve desired properties for additively manufactured items, the benefits of PLA and ABS have been successfully combined. As a result, high impact resistance, tensile strength, and significant rigidity—typical of PLA-based materials—can be achieved.
The altered chemical formulation also improves material flow, making this filament suitable for industrial use that requires good mechanical strength, high printing efficiency, and especially the ability to increase printing speed.
Annealing
This is a process in which increasing the temperature improves the strength, thermal resistance, and ductility of the product. The required temperature is called the glass transition temperature.
PLA Pro filament can be heat-treated in a heated chamber. Once crystallized, it shows increased heat resistance (up to 85 "C) and nearly double the strength compared to standard ABS.
Annealing is useful for parts with simple shapes where we need to increase mechanical strength and tensile force.
* Uneven heating may lead to unexpected deformation and suboptimal performance of printed parts. The typical annealing time for parts with approx. 3.2 mm wall thickness is about 20 minutes.
