Flexibility with Excellent Impact Resistance and Thermal Insulation
Spectrum S-Flex 85A is a filament based on thermoplastic polyether polyurethane. In additive manufacturing, S-Flex 85A stands out as a material with a relatively easy and trouble-free 3D printing process. Another advantage that ensures perfect prints is the excellent first-layer adhesion to the build platform, whether it´s made of glass, steel, plastic, or another material. Low processing shrinkage and high flexibility significantly reduce the risk of warping the edges of printed parts. The “85A” designation refers to the material´s Shore hardness and places Spectrum S-Flex 85A in the category of hard elastomers. This characteristic minimizes the risk of deformation of the filament in the feeding system leading to the print head, allowing for slightly faster printing compared to softer elastomers.
Parts made from Spectrum S-Flex 85A show excellent resistance to hydrolysis (a type of degradation caused by water), good recyclability, and high resistance to dynamic forces. These properties allow for 3D printing of parts that protect impact-exposed surfaces (such as bumpers and edge guards), sealing and protective elements with high chemical resistance, as well as thermal insulators.
Key properties: High hydrolysis resistance, elongation at break up to 650%, Shore A hardness of 85, high resistance to tearing and tension, low shrinkage, resistance to many common industrial oils and chemicals, and reduced stringing when the printer is idle.
Applications: Production of chemically resistant seals, parts used as energy absorbers, functional components, bumpers and vibration dampers, protective housings, snap-fit parts, sleeves, hinges, flexible spacers and bumpers, sealing components with increased rigidity, spring-damping elements for mechanical production and modeling, strong flexible belts, and covers and housings for various devices.
Filament specifications: Filament diameter: 1.75 mm / 2.85 mm, extrusion temperature: 200–230"C, bed temperature: 50–70"C, print speed: 20–70 mm/s.
