Flexibility with Excellent Impact Strength and Thermal Insulation
Spectrum S-Flex 85A is a filament based on thermoplastic polyether polyurethane. In additive manufacturing, S-Flex 85A is a material known for its relatively easy and trouble-free 3D printing process. Another advantage that helps achieve a perfect print is its excellent adhesion of the first layer to the build platform, regardless of whether it is made of glass, steel, plastic, or another material.
Low processing shrinkage and high flexibility significantly reduce the risk of edge warping in printed parts. The number 85A in the filament name refers to the material´s hardness on the Shore scale, classifying Spectrum S-Flex 85A as a hard elastomer. This property, in terms of the 3D printing process, reduces the risk of filament deformation in the feeding system that leads material to the print head. This allows for slightly faster printing compared to more flexible elastomers.
Parts made from Spectrum S-Flex 85A are characterized by very high resistance to hydrolysis (a type of degradation caused by water), good recyclability, and excellent resistance to dynamic forces. Thanks to these properties, it is possible to print 3D parts that protect surfaces exposed to impact (bumpers, edge guards), sealing and protective components with high chemical resistance, and thermal insulators.
Key properties: High hydrolysis resistance, elongation at break up to 650%, Shore A hardness 85, high tear and tensile strength, low shrinkage, resistance to many common industrial oils and chemicals, reduced stringing when the printer is idle.
Applications: Production of seals with high chemical resistance, objects used as energy absorbers, functional parts, all types of bumpers and vibration dampers, protective housings, snap-fit parts, sleeves, hinges, bumpers and flexible spacers, sealing elements with increased stiffness, spring dampers for mechanical engineering and modeling, high-strength flexible straps, covers and housings for various devices.
Filament specifications: Filament diameter: 1.75 mm / 2.85 mm, extrusion temperature: 200–230 "C, bed temperature: 50–70 "C, print speed: 20–70 mm/s.
